Anna Maria Maiolino

Born in 1942 in Scalea (Italy), lives and works in São Paulo (Brazil)

The ground is covered with 70 dozen eggs, scattered in studied disorder so that the spectator can walk through. Anna Maria Maiolino’sEntrevidas explores, quite literally, the phrase "walking on eggs". Her work, which is polymorphic and transversal, investigates issues of the body as metaphor for a permanent invention of life, as a place of feminine subjectivity, but also as metaphor for a certain fragility in the country, since democracy has only recently re-emerged in Brazil after the dictators.
