« Thoughts of Caffeine » by Felipe Arturo in Rillieux-la-Pape : how can we receive and digest dissonance?
Following the de-installation last November of Thoughts of Caffeine by Felipe Arturo, located Place Lyautey in Rillieux-la-Pape, Veduta / 15e Biennale de Lyon offers to those who participated to the project and who made the installation possible, but also to the residents and students of Rillieux-la-Pape,and more generally to everyone who has been touched by the project, to meet one more time and discuss all together about this experience.
“The use of the artworks is a way to finalise the meaning.”
(Marie-Luz Ceva in Culture & Musées n°3, 2004.)
The meeting will begin with a reminder of the project, its context and initial goals, led by the City of Rillieux-la-Pape and the Biennale’s staff.
For the occasion, Sonia Kerfa, university lecturer and researcher in the field of visuals arts from the Hispanic world, will intervene to discuss about the idea of the collective. Indeed, if Felipe Arturo’s artwork allowed to forge ties between different territories and individuals, Thoughts of Caffeine worked as a question asked to each recipient. Thus, the echoes that came back from this experience could not all be in line with the initial project.
So how do we receive and digest the dissonance?
