An industrial walk
A walking tour in the Gerland district, ending at the Fagor Factory
Every first weekend of the month, Saturday and Sunday, 2-4pm
This tour takes participants on a dual discovery – of urban planning and industry. Even better, by seeing things through an urban planner’s eyes, they will realise how closely the two topics are linked. Children and adults are invited to consider the city from a fresh perspective and to gauge the influence that industry exerted, for nearly two centuries, on how districts were planned and managed.
And although industrial activity vacated our city centres many years ago, its legacy is evident today in the heart of a fast-changing metropolitan area. This Industrial Walk frames the debate about the role of such a legacy in a changing city: how best to incorporate it into our collective history? And how can it be given a fresh lease of life?
Devised and run by Les Ateliers La Mouche
